More and more we work from home and we have the need to stay connected with our colleagues, customers, suppliers both voice and video, chat, document management, application integration … We have identified the following need: Interoperability between MS Teams users and CISCO Call Manager users, ie that a MS Teams user can talk to a Cisco CallManager user and vice versa, and also that a MS Teams user can make/receive calls to/from the outside. Direct routing.

How to integrate our CISCO CallManager PBX with our users with MS teams?

Although MS Teams is primarily used as an internal communication tool, with direct routing we can give telephone capabilities to Microsoft Teams users, allowing the MS Teams platform to be used as a complete business phone system (PBX).

As you have seen in the video, direct routing allows you to connect MS Teams to your CISCO PBX so that MS Teams users can also use the platform as a voice solution and make and receive external calls.

And the solution is simple“direct routing”, to the Microsoft office 365 licenses with the tennant phone system (for example E3 or E5…), add four key elements: a Session Border Controller, SIP Trunks, dedicated public IP and certificates.

Session Border Controller is a voice gateway, which can be a CISCO ISR or CCSR 1000V router with IOS XE.
