Nuestra Señora de la Vega School: Connectivity and wireless network project in Madrid
The Nuestra Señora de la Vega School, located in Madrid, needed to update and improve its technological infrastructure to offer a reliable and high-quality Internet connection in its 28 rooms distributed over two floors, including classrooms, laboratories, assembly hall and audiovisuals. Solutel deployed an advanced wireless network solution for teachers and students, improving connectivity throughout the school.

Project objectives for the Nuestra Señora de la Vega School
- Provide 802.11n WIFI coverage in all school rooms.
- Centralize the management and control of access points from a single controller.
- Improve technological infrastructure by adapting to new technologies.

With the implementation of this project, the infrastructure has been improved and we have adapted to new technologies.
Project details for the Nuestra Señora de la Vega School in Madrid
- Installation of 28 Cisco 1041 Series Single-band Controller-based 802.11g Access Points with Integrated Antennas.
- Implementation of aCisco 2500 Series Wireless Controller, supporting up to 50 access points, providing centralized security policies and wireless intrusion prevention system (wIPS).
- Installation of a Cisco 2960 48-port PoE switch to power access points.
- Deployment of Internet connection through fiber optics to guarantee high speed and stability.
Infrastructure used in this project:
- 28 access points of the 1041 Series Single-band Controller-based 802.11g with integrated antennas.
- 1 2500 Series Wireless Controller with support for up to 50 access points. This controller provides centralized security policies, wireless intrusion prevention system (wIPS) and quality of service (QoS) for voice and video. It offers 802.11n performance and scalability.
- 1 2960 series switch with 48 PoE ports, powering the 28 access points.
Enseñanza y Promoción SA, wanted to provide teachers and students with Internet connection from the different rooms. A Wireless network has been deployed, and the solution consisted of the installation and configuration of:
- 28 access points between classrooms, auditoriums, etc… distributed on two floors
- Provide 802.11n WIFI coverage in all rooms.
- Installing High Performance Switching
- Providing fiber Internet connection
- Control of the access points from a single device, the controller”.
