This article is the result of a meeting held a few days ago with one of our customers.

We have considered it interesting to convey the idea of the importance for an IT manager to have a resource to turn to in order to discuss the network problems that arise and that can guide and advise him/her among the different alternatives that he/she may have. Change of location project and“other concerns” for CIO.

In this case, our client is moving to a new facility, moving more than 100 positions. The situation that arises is limited by an upcoming date to meet. In a few weeks more than 100 users have to be in a new location, cabling of workstations, several meeting rooms, wifi employees and guests, collaboration applications for all users (messaging, audio, video…). The IT manager contacts his AM at Solutel and a webex meeting is planned to discuss this project. The meeting is attended by the client’s IT manager and Solutel’s AM and sales manager.

The conversation was initially about the hardware, licenses, warranties …. that they already have and that within 2 years would be amortized, and their intention to adopt a subscription model for their network infrastructure, pay-per-use. Solutel as a CISCO partner was presenting the solution and up to that point everything was normal in a presentation of the solution. At the detail phase, and as the conversation progressed, the IT manager told us about other ideas he had in his head, which also concerned him and which had been arising as the date of the move approached.
